Old buildings deserve a different approach.

Old buildings were built differently. The materials, methods, hardware, and craftsmanship are often specific to their time and place. Repairing them requires more than simply replacing what is worn or damaged.

Old Growth Revival approaches older buildings with an emphasis on understanding what is already there before deciding what comes next. The goal is to preserve original materials and craftsmanship whenever possible, while making thoughtful repairs and additions where they are needed.

My background includes the repair and restoration of art, antiques, and historic objects, from Spanish Colonial pieces to 1950s jukeboxes. That experience led me to historic preservation and a hands-on understanding of traditional materials and building methods.

My preservation work has included hands-on work at a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with experience in historic carpentry, wood window restoration, door restoration, traditional joinery, reproduction work, finishes, condition assessment, research, and documentation.

Old Growth Revival works on older and historic homes & buildings through preservation carpentry, wood window and door restoration, deconstruction, architectural salvage, and general contracting for historic rehabilitation projects.

The approach is straightforward:

Preserve what can be preserved.
Repair what can be repaired.
Salvage what cannot remain.
Build new work that belongs with what came before.
